Laurente Defeats Quiñones in Pacquiao-Diaz Undercard

Laurente, a former lightweight champion of the Orient and Pacific Boxing Federation, improved his record to 29 wins with 15 knockouts to go with three losses and five draw when he defeated Steve Quiñones of the United States in Sunday's (Philippine time) boxing bout before the main fight between Manny Pacquiao and David Diaz, the current WBC lightweight champ at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino in Las Vegas. The US duelist seems to have taken the lead in the first three rounds of the fight. However, Laurente had knocked him down surprisingly in the fourth round and Quiñones started to lose momentum. There is no action took place on the fifth round since Quiñones have failed to continue because of the ankle problem making Laurente win through a technical knockout. The 30-year-old Laurante from Palompon town in Leyte province, added glory and honor to our country Philippines on his US debut.
